Blackberry Dumplings

This is an old school country recipe that most people doesn’t know about this recipe, but it’s THE BEST BLACKBERRY DUMPLINGS YOU WILL EVER MAKE AND EAT…VERY EASY AND DELICIOUS. These super yummy dumplings will be one of your go to southern comfort desserts when winter starts getting you down, try it out!!

– Blackberries: 1 qt (Fresh or frozen loose-pack)

– Sugar: 1 c Plus 1 tablespoon (divided)

– Salt: 3/4 teaspoon (divided)

– Lemon extract: 1/2 tspn

– All-purpose flour: 1 1/2 c

– Baking powder: 2 tspn

– Ground nutmeg: 1/4 tspn

– Milk Cream: 2/3 c ( whipped cream is also fine) *Opt

STEP 1 :

Start by combining the blackberries, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt and lemon extract in a Dutch oven. After that, bring to a boil, reducing heat, simmer for 5 minutes.

STEP 2 :

During this time, combine together flour, baking powder, nutmeg and remaining sugar and salt in a mixing bowl.

STEP 3 :

You’ll want to add milk and stir just until mixed. The trick is that the dough will be very thick.

STEP 4 :
Now, make sure to drop by tablespoonfuls into six mounds onto hot blackberry mixture. Immediately cover tightly and simmer or until a toothpick inserted in a dumpling comes out clean, it takes around quarter an hour. And please spoon in-to serving dishes.

STEP 5 :

Finally, I like to serve with cream or whipped cream.
